Fall is my favourite season.

Not cos of the fashion collection, but for the food! Yes, it's the Mid-Autumn Festival that's coming up! I love mooncakes like crazy, like really really crazy that I might really get diabetes in years to come 'cos of over-consumption of mooncakes(touch the branches of amazon rainforest). I think my sugar level intake from mooncakes makes up a good 70% of my annual sugar consumption. :b

So as usual I'll bug my parents to buy much earlier and tada! They got me some from the Four Seasons Hotel which they found to be the least sweet. -_- oh daddy!

P/S spent the early afternoon reading Biz Law text, it's quite dry but interesting! I like :)

P/P/S food for thought: do you know Fall & Autumn are dialects of each other?

Headed back to Commonwealth on thurs with Miss Doreen Tan. All her students went shouting "MISS TANNNNNN MISS TANNNNNN". Hahahaha so cute.

Bumped into Mrs Yeo at the school gate and had a short catch up. Too bad Mrs Philip left already. :( she was the BEST math teacher I've ever had. Be it of professionalism or concern received by her students, they had the best of both worlds. <3

Anyhow, we popped into the band room and took a peep, had a small conversation with one of the sec 2 cornet, or rather, trumpet juniors. She's yiqian's direct junior, and when yiqian was sec 1, I was sec 4 already. Felt so old. :( but the aura I felt inside the band room was still the same. Everyone was like family. & just happened to see huiling borrowing instrument home to practice. Aww. :')

Now I miss my juniors so.

Second week of school and I'm so elated!
Seriously, I can't remember the last time I was so eager about school. Probably secondary school, but for the wrong reasons. ；b

So what can I say? I'm so glad I'm studying the subjects I truly enjoy and they're not being forced upon me, or say, not just 'cos they give me more opportunities to different courses in the next institution. Because you know what? I'M IN UNIVERSITY ALREADY! W h o a.

No more much-hated sciences, no more uncommitted self in CCA, no more freaking school rules which doesn't allow untucked(if there is such a word. the linguist-to-be shall find out soon. hahahaha) shirts, short skirts, long fringes and side bangs, colourful socks and big ear studs. I love the freedom to choose my electives, the freedom of dressing, freedom of appearance, freedom to decide almost everything with full support from my lovely parents. What more can I ask for?

I had my first French lesson today and it went great! Learnt pronounciation of ABCs today and simple introduction. My teacher teaches in all 3 government funded universities and has a happy family.(random fact) There's a handsome dude in class but that's not the point. Point is, I am doing so good I actually can't believe it. Thinking last year at this moment I was struggling over all unrevised work cos prelims STARTED TODAY. Life sucked balls and now it's the exact opposite. YAY.

I'm living the moment, and not forgetting that this moment, is for the future I desire. :')

1 hour lecture today and I'm done! School has been awesome and interesting so far ;)

Identity Crisis

シンガポール、お誕生日おめでとうございます！笑
わたしはチュゴク人です。でも、シンガポールで15年ぐらい住んでいます。わたしのたくさん友達シンガポール人です。でも、わたしの家族上海住んでいます。

It's quite frustrating sometimes to be at a position where you feel you don't belong exactly anywhere. It's like in Singapore, people know I'm from Shanghai. On the other hand, when I go back, they see me as a Chinese who knows nothing about China. They don't mean anything, but it just occurs naturally to them that when they see me, they gotta speak Chinese instead of our dialect, Shanghainese. It's not that I don't understand, just that I suck at speaking it.

And I know most Singaporeans find Chinese annoying in some way or another cos of their bad cultural habits. But I would say, not all Chinese are like that. Still, who's there to believe when that's not what they witnessed?

Yes, sometimes I do admit that I'm embarrassed by my own countrymen because of certain things they do. All the fake goods to fake FOOD and fake Apple shop in recent years. But China is so enormous, the government can't possibly oversee everything that's going on, unlike tiny Singapore. We gotta think it that way to be objective, isn't it? Again, who's there to care about being objective when our greatest talent here to is complain?

Can I just be an international citizen? I have a crush for Japan too. & my home country wouldn't approve. Shouldn't someone somewhere create a new passport already?


P/S typed this post out using my cell. You can imagine how bored I am at work. Hahaha.

月曜日大學に入ります！

皆さん、おはよ～
明日大學に入る！私はとても興奮していますよ。

So, my 8 months holiday(I guess it would be the longest one in my entire life with no responsibility and everything) officially ends today. But I'm pretty anxious for school to start! Had enough rest, it's time to move on to the next chapter in life. :)

Life has been more than awesome. Others see me as the party girl, but I beg to differ. I know I did give that kind of impression to everyone from my late night partying photos or updating of statuses via the social network about me chillin' somewhere during the unearthly hours, but there's more to that! So I would rather say, I've been leading a really exciting and fulfilling life. :)

I've spent the past 8 months traveling with friends and family on separate occasions to KL twice, Shanghai twice and Tokyo. I have had my childhood dream come true. Diligently attended 5 months of basic Japanese lessons twice a week, never once had it missed! I found a job and I couldn't stop, discovered a workaholic self with bottomless energy. Started with one tuition assignment and boom! I had 5 students for the highest record in 3 months. Dropped 2 of them along the way and now I've got another 2 on my waiting list. Started driving lessons since February and I'm still figuring my way out to getting my license(hopefully next month!) while bestfriend has already gotten hers! Partied like some mad woman, breaking a self record of going sleepless for about 36hours - I went to work and then to partyworld to sing K with SB4 classmates and then went home to bathe, and off to work AGAIN. As crazy as it sounds, my life was still manageable. Daddy & mummy said I was insane, everybody else knows how busy I was. I guess all this would only happen once, and I'm only 18 once. :b And lastly, I took the airplane alone for the first time in my life and I think I'm addicted. I might consider traveling somewhere alone! Ok I'm kidding. I wouldn't dare to sleep in the hotel alone. :(

No one's life will be sweet all the way. As awesome as I had described this pretty long vacation, I had tons of unlucky moments like forgetting to bring my working attire to work after I've reached my work place, 'lost' my phone and found it IN MY OWN BAG 15 days later, FORGOT my driving lesson DATES & TIME and etc. What's YOUJING w/o all these anyway. ;)

So here I go, not exactly moving away from this awesome lifestyle I have, just that I've got to hit the books once again! The only difference is THERE IS OFFICIALLY NO MORE SCIENCES IN MY LIFE AND I AM SO GODDAMN ELATED. Like, WOOHOO! I'm a free bird that kinda thing. hehehe. So, it's a linguist-to-be behind the laptop screen here!

Born on 6 November '92 in Shanghai, virgin trip on the airplane at the age of 3 when she moved to Singapore. First language was Shanghainese. Only child thanks to the one child policy back then. Sang in the Choir in Primary School, played the alto saxophone in the military band in Secondary School, then the tenor saxophone in the concert band in Junior College. Currently majoring in Linguistics & Multilingual Studies in NTU. Part time Beauty Advisor for Lancôme Paris. Tutor for Primary & Secondary School students.
Learnt some basic design sketching(fashion), yoga and modern jazz - and loved them. Loves travelling, beauty stuff, food, photography and languages. Learning 日本語, Française & la lingua italiana. Wants to learn German and play the cello.
